The DemosAxia workshop at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) came to a close on Friday 25 September 2026. FORTH hosted our project partners INL (International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory) and ALPES Lasers for a day that took place entirely at FORTH. It combined hands-on exposure to research, strategic discussions within the consortium, and outreach to the wider public.
Lab visits and demonstrations
The day began with visits to FORTH’s laboratories. The partners from INL and ALPES Lasers saw research in action and learned about the facilities and capabilities that support the transition from research results to real-world applications.

DemosAxia WP1 Consortium meeting
FORTH, INL ,ALPES Lasers and CEA-Leti then gathered at FORTH for the DemosAxia WP1 Consortium meeting. The partners reviewed the progress of the project, reflected on the outcomes of the first two days of the workshop, and discussed the next steps towards the project’s objectives.

Meeting with Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis, Director of IESL-FORTH
At midday, the DemosAxia team and partners met with Prof. Emmanuel Stratakis, Director of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of FORTH. The meeting featured constructive discussions on the DemosAxia project and its contribution to research valorisation and innovation. It also explored new opportunities for further collaboration.

Researchers’ Night at FORTH
In the evening, the DemosAxia team, together with INL and ALPES Lasers, took part in Researchers’ Night 2026, held at FORTH’s premises in Vassilika Vouton under the theme “Research – Innovation – Society.” The event welcomed the public to discover research through a wide range of activities. It offered a fitting close to three days dedicated to bringing research closer to industry and society.

We warmly thank our partners INL and ALPES Lasers, as well as all speakers, panellists and participants, for three days of fruitful exchange and collaboration at FORTH. Special thanks go to Prof. Emmanuel Stratakis for hosting our meeting, and to the organisers of Researchers’ Night at FORTH for a memorable evening.
The insights and connections gained during the workshop will feed into the next steps of DemosAxia and its Recipes of Innovation, supporting stronger innovation ecosystems across Europe.
DemosAxia has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement No 101160387.
