The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) hosts the DemosAxia Workshop on Research Valorisation, IPR, Technology Transfer and Industry Collaboration on 23–24 September 2026 in Heraklion, Crete. The workshop takes place at the Vasileios Dougalis Amphitheater of FORTH and can also be attended online via Zoom.
The workshop brings together researchers, technology transfer professionals, industry and regional innovation stakeholders to discuss how research results can be turned into economic, societal and industrial value. Speakers come from CEA, INL, PRAXI Network, ALPES Lasers, the SEA IP SME Helpdesk, the University of Thessaly, the Hellenic Mediterranean University, the Region of Crete and FORTH.

Wednesday 23 September, 09:15–16:00 | From Research Results to Value
Research valorisation; IPR and exploitation strategies; building an entrepreneurial culture at universities; innovation and impact pathways; and an interactive session on strategic openness in research and innovation.
Thursday 24 September, 09:30–18:00 | From Innovation to Industry and Impact
Innovation and impact pathways; CEA’s recipe for innovation; standards and regulations as collaboration drivers; the Innovation Business Observatory of the Region of Crete; micro/nanoelectronics and photonics for industrial quality control, with the FORTH-ALPES Lasers and INL pilots; and the questions researchers need to ask when a promising result emerges from the lab. The day closes with a panel discussion on Industry Needs & Market Opportunities (16:00–18:00). Dr. Emmanuel Stratakis, Director of IESL-FORTH, leads the panel. It brings together representatives of Biomimetic, PDOT, ALPES Lasers, PRAXI Network, the Regional Development Company of Crete (P.AN.ETAI.K.), FORTH, INL, the University of Thessaly and the Hellenic Mediterranean University.
